Well here we are in 2018 with the weather blowing a gale and snow on the highlands. Fortunately we live in sunny Felixstowe where the sun shines permanently and tennis is played constantly throughout the year (well, almost). Besides the British obsession with the weather, tennis is still occurring with coaching sessions at the forefront. If you would like to carry on or renew your coaching, then contact Lysette Fulcher at:- coaching@felixstowetennis.co.uk.
Notes from the committee
Annual General Meeting

This year’s AGM will be held on Friday 23rd February at 7.15 for 7.30pm in the Clubhouse.

Nomination forms for committee posts and last year’s minutes will be e-mailed to members prior to the meeting.

The committee is very concerned about items going missing from the Clubhouse, most recently the second-hand under-counter fridge kindly donated by Paul for the servery. Members must make absolutely sure that the key pad is engaged on the outer door when leaving. Apparently it is fairly easy, if you turn the lock the wrong way, to lock the door OPEN.

Bookkeeper/Accountant required for 2017/18 Financial year

The club needs to appoint a new Bookkeeper /Accountant to replace our current Accountants who have terminated their services. We need to make an appointment as soon as possible.

The accounting services required are:

  •  Provide monthly bookkeeping profit/loss reports on Sage

  •  Quarterly Vat returns calculated and submitted to HMRC

  •  Yearly accounts and corporation tax return

  •  General correspondence and advice

The successful person should be based in Felixstowe and could be of interest to a retired Accountant.

Please contact Paul Baskerville phbaskerville@yahoo.co.uk or any Committee member for further details.

Improvement Projects

The committee has a prioritised list of projects for consideration when the Club can afford them. Currently the gents’ toilets are being refurbished - that was top of the list.

If any members would like to see copies of committee minutes, please e-mail secretary@felixstowetennis.co.uk

NAME THE BAR  competition
Yes folks, it's time for all of us to put our left field thinking caps on and come up with an appropriate name for the clubhouse bar. Why? You may be asking. Well, because it's there and it needs an excuse for a competition. So if you have any ideas please put them on the back of a fag packet, sorry, wrong era. Put your ideas in an email to - newsletter@felixstowetennis.co.uk.
The only one not allowed is BARY McBARFACE but here's one to start it off : "The Slackened Net"
Not sure if there is a prize yet but have a go anyway.

On the 18th December Club Members collected money for Save the Children
and Local Charities around the Streets of Trimley.

It was an extremely enjoyable evening. We raised just under £400 on the
evening, contributing to the grand total of £ 7,919.47 raised for the Charities.

A big Thank You to all the members who could help.

Felixstowe Mens Tennis Team play in Division 5 of the Floodlit League

The Winter League starts in October and is complete in March. There are 5 teams in our Division and we play each other home and away.
Prior to Christmas we had played 4 matches winning 1, drawing 1 and losing 2.
We have played one match so far in 2018 winning at home against Bramford. Our team on that occasion was Paul Franklin, Martin Halls, Adrian Hine and Philip Cooper.
We have a large pool of players and we all play on a rotation basis.

If any member fancies a game please ring me.
