Our tennis club has once again celebrated a fantastic summer of competition with the conclusion of our Annual Club Championship. The tournament, which has seen some incredible displays of skill, sportsmanship, and dedication, came to an exciting end on finals day, held on 15th September 2024.
The singles competition was a thrilling contest, with Tom Wake emerging victorious after an impressive display. Tom faced off against past winner Harry Wilson in the final and won in straight sets, securing his place as the club’s new singles champion.
In the doubles final, we witnessed a gripping match between the defending champions Peter Hicks and Sean Crean, and the determined duo of Nick Claydon and Luke Unthank. In a nail-biting three-set match, Nick and Luke fought hard to dethrone the reigning champs, ultimately winning 2 sets to 1.
Following the presentations, we wrapped up the day with a BBQ, bringing everyone together to celebrate the players’ achievements. It was a fantastic way to close out another successful tournament, and we are already looking forward to next year’s competition.
A huge congratulations to all the participants and especially to our new champions. We hope to see everyone back on the courts soon!
